In a failed attempt for a local group in Wash DC (science for the people) i promoted the idea we develop a local analog, measure, and metric for ecological footprint. (actually there is a better, newer version, though less developed). they didnt want to do that — some were doing projects along that line but they didnt want to deal with the whole system. They had a more free market invisible hand ideology (though they’d reject those terms since many called themselves ecosocialists or related areas) which was everyone works on their own project , life, or idea, and the rest will take care of itself.

people have limited tolerance for diversity. i had a sort of open place but it turns into a drug apartment. i can’t handle that. also since ‘good’ people know that i know and associate with people with problems (eg drug addicts) they refuse to associate with me. i dont blame them — -i am starting to refuse entry to people i know.
