Love Apps & Marketing? Take the test & work for Toggl!

If you’re someone who still believes in apps, Toggl’s got a job for you working on mobile marketing.

Toggl is a time tracking tool. We’ve been around for a long time, but in the past couple of years, we’ve really started growing fast.

The team is growing too. Right now we’re 60+ people, working remotely from dozens of countries around the world.

We have people from Estonia, Brazil, Netherlands, the US, the Philippines, Kenya and many more. Having a remote setup helps us hire great people no matter where they live.

If that sounds like a super lonely way to work, no worries — we travel quite a lot to work and spend some time together.

Here’s some of us in Lisbon earlier this year:

Great shot. Would be greater with your face in it, though.

Which brings us back to the job.

What‘s ahead for the Toggl mobile apps?

We’d really appreciate help with marketing our apps.

For the longest time, we treated the Toggl mobile apps as simple extensions of our web app — they worked great, and gave people the chance to log their hours on the go. But we felt there was a lot of unrealised potential.

So, we started thinking about how to take them from being extensions of the regular service, and turn them into something that can bring real value to the user on their own. If today most people find our apps after signing up on the web, then in the future we’d love Toggl mobile to be their first experience with time tracking.

“It’s a mockup, you can’t show it to people” — the Toggl mobile team

The new iOS app is already in the works (you can sign up for the beta here), so we’re already getting pretty excited about the future.

Still, few products get up on their feet without a push from the marketing folks — so we really need someone to take charge of getting the Toggl apps to the masses.

What can you expect from the job

The mobile marketer position is your chance to play a key role in turning the Toggl mobile apps into amazing stand-alone products.

There will be a fair bit of the standard marketing work, like crafting e-mails, A/B testing copy on the app store page, following the metrics, writing landing page copy and doing the occasional blog post — but you’ll also get to bring your own ideas to the table.

That is both the most exciting and challenging part of the job. With the app market as crowded as it is, it’s getting harder and harder to make something that commands attention. You’ll need to speak smarter, not louder.

We love to experiment with marketing — whether it’s building a startup simulation game, drawing comics or making prank videos.

Coming up with ideas that stand out from the crowd is no easy task, and you’re all but guaranteed to make wrong turns along the way. Failure is something we’ve all experienced here, and that’s quite OK. Everybody stumbles, but not everybody gets back up.

Who are we looking for?

We’d rather not keep it too technical, but there’s a few things the people at Toggl share.

This is the job for you, if:

You’re a doer

Ideas are great, but execution is better. Even the greatest idea won’t get anywhere unless someone works on it.

You can take charge of your own work

Micromanaging sucks — we love working with people who are able to organise their own work without needing a constant push. This is especially important with remote work, as you’ll have limited face-time with the people you work with.

You know your writing

We’re not looking for the next J.K. Rowling, but a good marketer knows how to get the message across, and how to make it easy to read and understand.

You’re humble

There’s nothing wrong with being confident, but too much of it makes people blind to mistakes. Recognising and admitting your mistakes and shortcomings is the first step in becoming great. Plus honestly, nobody likes working with an asshole.

What we offer

  • Yearly starting salary €40,000
  • A chance to work remotely from anywhere (as long as you have internet)
  • Travel opportunities for conferences, meeting other Togglers and our users.

How do I apply?

To throw your hat in the ring, all you have to do is take this simple 30-minute mobile marketing job test.

We built the test using Hundred5, which is basically a tool that makes hiring easier and more transparent. Applying for a job is usually a pretty tedious experience, so this test should also make it more fun.

Good luck & hope to see you soon!
