The jumpiness of the story is something I came to enjoy, too! At first, I was displeased with the lack of information when something critical was told, like when we learn that he would be glad he tore up the photos of his family. We first encounter this on page 8, while he is still in prison, but revisit the topic when it is explained on page 13. It makes the story much more interesting to read.
