How to train your students to focus on learning?

During my teaching and learning sessions, I observed that my students were more interested in asking questions. But here one interesting point I observed that, whenever a student was answering a question, the other students were more interested in making their point of view. They were frequently raising their hands, rather than understanding the concept of their fellow student.

Child Psychology, shows that we are more interested to make our point of view, here we are passive listener’s. In order to justify our opinion, we don’t listen to what has been spoken. During the regular sessions, if we as teachers follow a pattern that the students will keep their hands on the table / on their lap, no raising the hands to answer the questions. Listening carefully, Understand it, Reflecting! If there are points to be added one can say so, you agree or disagree with the opinion of their peers.

When practically, I started to follow this pattern in the class, I observed that my students were less hyper, in behavior. They were not fault finders, but were solution givers. Sometimes they were calm, they agreed that they have got the concept clear. Learning with mindfulness begins with small steps, in regular class. Train the minds to be good listeners.
