5 Useful PhotoShop Tips And Tricks For Beginners

PhotoShop is one of the most favored photo editor software by designers throughout the world. It provides quick and efficient editing of the pictures, making and use of vectors and is also widely used for website designing. If you are a newbie though who is just starting out their PhotoShop journey, you would find these 5 tips useful along the road. Read along and practice them for easy memorization:

1. Use ‘Undo’ to your heart’s content- Being a designer you would need to ‘undo’ a lot of your mistakes (which are inevitable on the path of learning). Using ‘Ctrl + Z’ in PhotoShop can undo the previous action but using that combination again will Redo the action you just did. To make multiple Undo in PhotoShop, ‘Ctrl + Alt + Z’ is used.

2. Create the Guide like a Pro- Starting out with website designing you would notice you have deal a lot with Guide to rightly position the elements. Instead of using the long way to create Guide in PhotoShop, simply press Ctrl + R to activate the Ruler Tool and drag it up-down or left-right to create a horizontal and vertical guide respectively.

3. Viewing selection one at a time- You might have come across situations when you simply want to observe how an element might look on its own to confirm the transparency you wish to maintain. Instead of having to turn off the visibility for every other layer, simply hold down on the Alt key and press on the ‘eye’ icon beside the button group to turn off their visibility collectively.

4. Select any layer instantly- You as a designer might know how hard it is to find any element’s layer from the tens (if not hundreds) of layers you have already created. If you haven’t already put the layer of the element you wish to select in a group, try this- activate the Move tool using V key and hold down the Ctrl key. Now click on the element you want and its layer will automatically get selected.

5. Take a snapshot of your progress- Snapshot allows you to make a temporary copy of your progress so you can simply go back to this stage of your project if and when you want to later. Simply open the History palette and click on the second button at the bottom.
