She’s describing what people told her.. she doesn’t know what actually happened as it’s not her story.. and it doesn’t really matter to her story. What matters is they told her a story, and said she had to live up to it. That’s what matters. You are welcome to write that it’s not true.. but what matters to her story is what they thought was true and told her. And then what she believed was going to happen based upon the story she heard.
