Agreed. If we took the path of most other countries and didn’t try to be involved in every other country’s business and wars, not only would that make us less the constant target of terrorists, but we would not be constantly running up massive deficits and be able to do the kinds of things we should be doing. Not just helping poor people, but also our crumbling infrastructure, that in many areas is downright dangerous. Funding for space flight is hardly a total waste regardless, as much of that technology that is developed is useful in other areas, infrastructure being one of the major ones. But of course, this is not something that will ever happen, not just because it’s too ingrained in our psyche that we have to be the policemen of the entire world, but there are a lot of ties between most of the people in Congress and the companies that get these huge military contracts.
