Yes, do it! I did it for the first time in 2009 and reached the 50,000 words point and felt satisfied. But I knew I still had five chapters to write. I waited five years to write them because I was hoping for nonfiction (real life experiences) to inform my fiction. That did not happen (and I’m grateful!), except for one time when I met two people who informed the way I wrote one of the final chapters. They showed up in my life as a kind of blessing and yet I still wrote them as fiction. I am going to go in again in November 2016 (on a project for which I’ve already produced a skeleton) because I found that writing about 1,800 words per day generated a joy that I’d never known was possible.
