When You Leap and You Lead
What is Leadership?
A friend sits on the stage, then a microphone is passed to him. He is young, 24, but speaks loudly and proudly about startups, technology and innovation.
He is humble and he is respected, leading his team in his business commercialiser and startup studio. He was invited to this opening of a Business Studio at the State Library to talk and share.
He shows how age should not define your perception of what is possible. This was one of my first glimps into leadership.
I… can lead
Last month, I had choose to lead at a Startup Weekend. This was different from my experience in “managing” new social media interns. This was different. It was leadership, I had ideas and I cared on a deeper level. I wanted to make some change and I surprised myself.
I had ideas about how I saw the world should be like.
Getting up on stage and I had my first 30 second pitch to get it out.
I shared it, then asked people theirs opinions, formed a team, risked failure, learnt and was humble. I asked what people could do and what they wanted to do, I helped organised, set the vision, I got out of the building, I got uncomfortable, I got comfortable, I got uncomfortable again, I was constantly adapting and encouraging, building, laughing and high-fiving, stepping up to pitch and graciously huddling with my boys as the winning team.
Leadership is a choice.
Yes.
I agree.
The change I’m trying to make is with tech to innovate health and medicine.
We can do better.
In a fun way with the help of the internet and social media, is one way that I predict chronic diseases and its numbers is and can be dramatically more reduced.
I want to optimise nutritional and lifestyle awareness in a seamless way. I want to foster proactive health awareness and self-actualisation via innovative tech.
This year I’ve leap and I intend to lead.
I am founding a start up and learning to code.
I hope you join me.
