We are all Donald Trump!

The very first time I heard his name, Donald Trump’s that is, and yes, there were plenty of us who hadn’t ever heard his name, was when the first season of “apprentice” was running and I remember watching it almost obsessively because the reality show, among so many others running especially on Bravo at that time, was more appealing.

Trump, with his signature “you are fired”, I heard he owns the copyright to using that sentence for commercial purposes!, and I am not sure if he actually does or it was just rumors for network rating purposes. Trump! Trump whose name I had never heard before and was on a reality TV show and was giving interviews and and had weird ugly hair and face and a very monotone voice and an attitude, that in those days I thought was for TV only, come on! The guy seemed decent in his interviews, I heard him during one of his interviews once that he only take calls from his immediate family members while at work, even when he is in a business meeting, and what can I say, I had an “aaawe” moment!

And then it happened! The night when my phone beeped and I got a notification from my news app telling me Donald Trump announced his candidacy to run for presidency! I ran through the article maybe three times just to make sure I am not mistaken! Trump for president? Was that even fathomable? That guy whose only legacy in my mind was the Trump Tower on 5th Ave. and some long forgotten reality TV show? and who’d never held a public office of any kind, in his life, was announcing his intention to run?

Well of course this is a free country and yes of course we all wanna live and achieve the American Dream and of course this is a democracy! But come on!

And days and months passed and he is still here! Not backing up on his Trumpisms and his classless, racist demeanor overall.

And he is still getting good ratings, and we like his page and go see him on his campaign trail. We comment on and share his ignorant remarks and make his words the headline of our news. We share and share again and yet again on social media, and we read and feed each other’s heads with his nonsense!

We have, us, the people, the supposed educated and intellectually sane! We have given his every word of nonsense, life! We have given power to his racist remarks over and over again. We have given Trump the power to stand there, look in the camera and have the audacity to talk about racial segregation and water boarding and still get good ratings! We are all Donald Trump! We have created this monster! We feed his charade and we bring down the curtains for him to take a bow! We just nod and share and go meet and greet him on the campaign trail and hurray for his despicable theory of “change”!

How can we even put up with someone like that? Is that really what we are all about? Are his so called changes what we subconsciously want and will support down the road? Have we gone completely numb and deaf and blind that we don’t see or hear what a disaster, what a threat he is and has been to the true values we have cherished all these years as a nation?

Have we just come this far, traveling this long road to freedom, just to have him take us back so many steps and off the course?
