You go, girlfriend! I entered graduate school for my MSW when I was 65. At 67, my two sons (who are both engineers — one civil and one mechanical) threatened to do an intervention on me cuz I was homeless and didn’t have a job. I quizzed them about why they would do an intervention with me as I did not drink and drive nor take drugs. They said I was being irresponsible. So after living in the Atlanta area for 29 years, I moved to Alaska to take a new job. I turned 70 last week, and love my job, love Alaska, and have renewed relationships with my family. There are lots more stories that go with all of this, including a book I wrote, THIS! Lessons for an Extraordinary Life, available on Amazon, which gives some more history and context for what had happened before that.
I am grateful I have never experienced a death of a child, but observed my parents’ helplessness as they outlived both of their sons. Know that my thoughts surround you with understanding and tenderness.
