Revenge. A dish best served cold. Something haunting, something all-consuming. Revenge is powerful and often leads to ruin. The Last of Us Part II embraces revenge as it’s one and only theme but this is more a curse than a blessing. The story wants to be a grounded mature tale about how violence begets violence, how revenge only breeds revenge. Unfortunately, the story fails on multiple attempts to make these themes anywhere near meaningful.
