To tweet or not to tweet. That is the question

Today, I created my very first twitter account. Before today, I did know what twitter was and roughly how it works.. I just never really had any desire to use it.
Twitter is an online social networking service, primarily utilized to connect with other people. It can be used for almost anything, whether it is just socially, for business marketing, or education. Twitter can be used as part of a PLN (Personal Learning Network), enabling teachers to locate resources and share experiences with others in regards to education and their teaching.
Initially, I was not a fan of twitter at all, it seemed hard to navigate around and a little confusing. Regardless of this, I think that it could be an effective tool for teaching; it is a great place to find resources, see other teachers’ ideas and communicate with other educators about strategies and classroom concepts. As a teacher, this would be useful for me to do all of these things and gain new insights into teaching and constantly improving my own approaches.
I think that using twitter for these things could definitely improve the effectiveness of a teacher, as there is always room for improvement, especially in new and social avenues such as Twitter. Twitter does hold a significant amount of educational value, in my opinion, anything with as many teaching resources as this is helpful to any teacher. As I complete my degree and go on to teaching I intent to use Twitter as a tool of PLN in order to expand my own knowledge to share with students that can’t be found in other books and resources that we use in schools.
