Back in 2004, I was a member of Author Kelley Armstrong’s website. She had a forum at the back end where readers and writers alike came to chat about Kelley’s books and their own. Kelley was very supportive of all the would-be-authors on her site, and they talked about something called NaNoWriMo.

“I’d rather be uncomfortable for a few moments than catch coronavirus.”

Is a phrase I have heard often to people who learn I don’t wear a mask.

About a month ago, I was in the supermarket picking up some general things we’d run out of. It wasn’t a big shop. I was literally running in and out to get what we’d needed. It took me no longer than fifteen minutes or would have.

A woman approached me and yelled, “Get your f*****g mask on.” Startled, and not wanting to get into anything, I shrugged and walked off and carried on with what I was doing. …

Just because she’s the mother, doesn’t mean she’s fit for the job.
