There are several reasons I write. Sometimes, not often, it is carthic, where I air my thoughts, and organize my suspicions and I feel all the better for it; if I share that writing it is to see if I am the only one thinking that way.
Sometimes, I have thoughts on a topic that I have seen not addressed by anyone else and feel that I should share my take on it, again to see if anyone else is feeling that way too.
Lastly, I write fiction for the enjoyment of the reader. I strive to create emotion in the reader for my characters set in a rich textured backdrop of a world that is similar to the same one we all live in. I create tension, conflict, and adversarial conditions that wells up in the reader, where they think, ‘oh no, don’t do that’. Perhaps, in the world of fiction we can step outside our sour parts of reality and delve into a world where justice becomes reality, the bad guy doesn’t get away and the good guy finds strength to push through, of course, just like we always do.
This medium of exchange for our writings and feedback is beneficial. I, sorry to say, have commented some dumb stuff in the past and been smacked down for it. I deserved it. Like Richard says, I have to take responsibility for it and I have. Mostly though, responses to some exchanges has given me pause for thought, a view point unconsidered that I can digest and take on board if I so chose. That happens frequently.
In conclusion, I love a good turn on words that spurs thoughtful consideration and I love writing.
