Design is a process — an intimate collaboration between engineers, designers, and clients. Henry Dreyfuss
Research in human-computer interaction (HCI) has become more relevant these days when more than 2.5 Billion people in the world have access to smart devices. With technology being a crucial part in our lives, it is interesting to explore how this can be used to help our education systems, health programs, and overall our society. The way we conceive technology innovation starts with a clear design process, this includes making the path an inclusive, informed and efficient for the benefit of people involved.
Design as an ongoing task requires collaboration between interdisciplinary groups, it is a challenge to keep track of decisions when some participants voice is never being heard. The relationship between stakeholders and the design task have an impact in how the outcome benefits users. We need additional toolkits, guidelines, design objects and new devices to help future designers/researchers overcome the current design issues. My intention is to open the path for UCD and HCI practitioners to bring the best of collaboration research into education, health and user experience design.
My current PhD research involves the exploration of Co-design for Learning analytics. By using a Co-design approach, researchers in this field may have a better chance to tackle current issues surrounding learning analytics adoption such as low satisfaction, Learning experience, wide learning curves, misalignment with learners’ expectations and design bias. I’m interested in projects that involve stakeholders as an ongoing activity for design starting with learning technologies and human interaction.
I work in the interdisciplinary field of User experience, Human-computer interaction and Learning analytics. I started in this field through my bachelor’s in software engineering (2012), MIM (Interactive Media (2015) and currently on my PhD Learning Analytics (2019). I enjoy working with user research and human-centered approaches to solve problems beyond academic institutions. My experience with companies include user experience research consultant for Booking.com, Kayak, CleanPost and World Bank Group. User experience design in collaboration for and with people is a unique task that can benefit a broad range of today’s society groups, this led me to participate in design for social good projects (Health and Education) back in Rural Mexico and Latin-America.
