Just to make things clear, we are talking about WebRTC. Which is browser based video communication that lets you video chat, share screen, CoBrowse, and even exchange files all online without installing ANYTHING.

In the last 2–3 years we’ve noticed a very large increase in the way people are communicating online. They’ve started to slowly move away from emailing each other and begun to start communicating in real time using video. With Facebook, Snapchat, and now even Instagram using live video, it’s safe to assume where the trend of communication is going. So, let’s discuss 5 sectors in which is going to be drastically changed due to video communication.

SAAS & Enterprise

Sharing screen can enhance your onboarding

I’m sure each and every B2B or SAAS company will right away tell you how hard it is to go through with the onboarding of new users or just getting a hold of them in the first place. And can we really blame the users? Responding to email takes 24 hours and people just don’t have the patience anymore. Right after a user signs up, the chances of them going back after that first day is extremely low.

In the next 2–3 years online businesses will start using video communication (WebRTC to be specific) that’s embedded unto their website to conduct onboarding sessions. This will effectively increase the user experience of the new users as well as expedite the process of explaining complex procedures.

Healthcare

Talk to your doctors online without waiting in the patients room

I’m sure you’ve been to the doctors where you sat down in the waiting room for at least 30 minutes and wondered to yourself “I’m just here for a darn antibiotic”. Well, your doctors realizes this, but it’s something that’s out of their hand. Until now. More and more healthcare professionals are moving online to expedite the patient consultation part because it’s just simple and easier.

The doctor will start video chatting with the patient, ask them a few questions, and in no time the doctor will call the local pharmacist with your prescription. And since technology has progressed so much in terms of video quality, diagnosing online isn’t difficult anymore. And the sessions can be recorded (given HIPAA complient of course) for safety and accuracy.

Law

Lawyers can get instantly consult online for faster service and more clients

Getting a potential client to call you (or email), schedule an appointment, and than drive down to your office just to sit down for 30 minutes isn’t the best business strategy anymore. This is simply inefficient and especially if the client is shopping around for more lawyers. So who do you think will get more consultations out in the day? The lawyer who is waiting for a client to come in or the lawyer who is able to instantly communicate online through video, share documents, or even sign documents all online?

Lawyers will be able to call their clients via video chat and get through the nitty gritty stuff a lot faster. Clients will be able to record the conversations so they understand everything as well as sign contracts right over the web.

If you found this article helpful, I highly encourage you to look into video communication for your business. It has proven to expedite support, increase engagement, and lower churn rate.
