forgo the Uber and take the subway while you’re at it
DEAR YELPER, GET OFF MY LAWN
Philip H. Beauregard

You may have missed much of the letter — she does take the subway (which she can barely afford), and she doesn’t shop *anywhere*, because food is too expensive. She’s been living on free office junk food and a bag of rice she brought when she moved to the bay area for her job. The entire point of her article isn’t that she’s having to sacrifice by “slumming it,” as we used to call it, it’s that the company is literally paying starvation wages for the market in which their offices are located.
