The real damage done by negative reviews is not the reviews themselves, but the overall impact on the book’s average star rating. A book that has hundreds of reviews is not going to be stained by the work of one bad actor, but an unknown author trying to garner readers struggles to get every single review.
If you are an author, you’ll understand that it isn’t possible for us to ignore the reviews. Well-known authors have nothing to be concerned about, but unknown, self-published authors depend on reviews to attract readers.
