Is Lulu Really Not a Scam?
Here is a definition of scam (Merriam-Webster):
- : a fraudulent or deceptive act or operation; an insurance scam
What Lulu does to authors fits the description to a tee. Please, please do take me to court if you work for them, for I cannot wait to start sending press releases all over the place and thus warn even more people about this horrendous business. Seriously, I hope they go out of business and hope that happens soon.
I published this very same paperback on Amazon KDP, they made it very, very clear how much am I going to make in no uncertain terms or heinous small print, I was able to list it at half the price Lulu listed it for (ignoring the discount I set at 50% to get the price down to normal) and I’m making more than a dollar per book that is sold at half Lulu’s price on Amazon, while I get 0 (zero!) dollars on Lulu. Do you seriously think I would have EVER agreed to this have they made it clear?! SERIOUSLY?!
Four people invested their work and efforts in this book, it has full color illustrations, I’m doing all the work promoting it, and Lulu thinks it’s OK to just take all that work, sell it, and give us NOTHING in return?! What’s wrong with you to even think of defending them? What the heck is wrong with you Kerry Gardiner?!
