Smashwords, with its novel-size manual and the procedure where they have yet to decide whether they’ll include your ebook in their catalogue as the only way to broad distribution, was a major pain in the butt in comparison to Draft2Digital — the process there was the fastest and easiest of them all. With Draft2Digital, you can have your book up and distributed to Apple, Kobo, Barnes&Noble, Tolino and numerous other channels in a matter of minutes without having to graduate on any kind of a book-length manual. So there is no way in hell I’d try or recommend Smashwords to absolute beginners like me.
Note that I’m now working on my second book and am ONLY NOW trying out Pronoun. Pronoun is a bit more demanding, but I’m getting there.
