Thanks for the info!
I am only writing about what I have personally tried so far. I cannot write about platforms I haven’t tried out yet. I was highly confused by the abundance of different options and by different authors reporting different results with using them. But all of them agreed they sold most books on Amazon. So you are the very first one I hear is making more on any other platform but Amazon!
In the end, I chose the platforms based on recommendations by other writers here on Medium and elsewhere in combination with mass reviews.
Here is one post with pretty much typical findings:
I’m a newbie and I was thus focused on the ease of publishing above all. Most everyone praised Draft2Digital in that regard over all other platforms, and it also offers great and broad distribution options. I have to agree — publishing with them was like a breeze.
As for Smashwords, I didn’t see it receive such a beginner-friendly praise in comparison to others, and, again, you are the first one I came across that praises it so very highly when it comes to sales.
But, surprise, surprise — you are right about Amazon, the royalties came through today quite unexpectedly. I thought they weren’t and they have the $100 policy stated for wire and checks, so I thought that was it. They arrived much later than Draft2Digital royalties, though. But I’ll correct that in the post. Thanks again for your valuable input!
