Thanks for the insight. So it is about the amount of effort it takes to help a poor child? Would you say that it takes more effort to call the police in the case of poor child than in the case of a well-to-do child? In both cases, unattended child who looks lost should not be ignored and in both cases I’d say that calling the police would require about the same amount of effort.

Also, if a child does steal, that should be reported as well but one should not assume that children steal just because they are poor.

I come from Europe, there are many countries in Europe and in most of them we don’t simply assume that poor children are thieves. Perhaps in some parts of a very, very few European countries that could happen, but certainly not all over Europe in general.

The point is, people will always find excuses for not acting. It’s just that “it takes too much effort” to care for a poor child, should really not be an acceptable one.
