Nice overview and explanation of a complex subject, thx! As an artist have long been fascinated with the human ability, even need, to find “meaning” in all things. Also as you’re likely aware, neuroscientist Mike Gazzaniga’s split brain research has shown the role of the left hemisphere as the “interpreter”. And likewise our species has been dubbed the “story-telling animal”. It’s how we ”make sense” of the world.

So maybe mystical experiences and spirituality in general are simply providing another layer of “meaning” to our “story-telling”, albeit one that not only reconciles, but even welcomes the “illogical’ and “non-linear” parts of life?
