Well that’s the point, and what Engler is saying…that instead of ‘dealing with it’, westernized Buddhism and meditation only reinforces the Narcissist’s sense of “it’s all about ME”. So what we end up with is a lot of uber-spiritual sounding folks (aka, Spiritualized Narcissism), glibly talking about ‘ego’ and ‘dharma’, while still devoid of many of Buddhism’s highest values like compassion and empathy… especially towards even the slightest suggestion of narcissism within its ranks. And if folks can’t even look around them at issues within their own group, then how ‘mindful’ are they gonna be about themselves?
