Portland has probably done enough to limp to the finish, but they’re not a playoff team without Nurkic. Losing him now, after everything that’s happened, is a real body blow.
New Orleans is perfectly happy to see BC/AD doing work, even if it didn’t jell in time for this season’s playoffs. The pair has played 24 minutes per game together since March 1st, and the Pelicans have played like a 6 seed in that time (10–7 with best wins against Rockets/Grizz and worst losses against Bulls/Heat). That would be the best team either Cousins or Davis has ever been on. Now they get the summer to work out their sets. The Pelicans don’t have much roster flexibility, but how much do they actually need to be exciting?
