Football for everyone at the vibrant Coal Bridge area

During Aarhus Festival, the area around the Coal Bridge transforms into a multicultural meeting point for people interested in playing football. Anyone can join — and that’s the whole point of the event. It should be a place for people with different cultures, backgrounds and ages to meet and connect through their passion for football. And there is definitely passion on the football field. The players are running through the puddles filled with grey water without even noticing. It’s all about the game.
Micheal, one of the players, says; “It’s so fun to play football and at the same time be able to make new friends. For me, the people I met in my football team have helped me a lot and these kinds of events make those connections possible”

Even if the rain doesn’t seem to bother the players, it makes the audience hide under their umbrellas while they are watching the tournament. But they are not only watching the game, they do also rest their eyes on the art that covers the surroundings. Friends of the Coal Bridge that, with among other organisations, arrange the football tournament have big plans for the area. The dream is to create bridges between not only persons with different backgrounds but also between art and politics, business and culture. The Coal Bridge and its area will be defined by openness, knowledge and respect for other humans, the environment and last but not least the areas own history.
The football tournament is just one of many events that has and will be arranged at this vibrant and upcoming place.
