Girls just wanna have fun
The air inside the tent is warm. Warm because of the gassing sun outside, but also warm in terms of a friendly atmosphere. The ladies are sitting on their chairs, waiting for the singer John Mogensen to enter the stage. On the tables in front of them there are plates with food, made by students dreaming of becoming chefs.

When John starts to sing, the ladies clap their hands and laugh at his humoristic lyrics. Some of them dance and swing their arms in the air. Others are taking selfies with their mobile cameras. Heidi, the woman who sits next to me, describes why she attended the event;
I just got a letter in my postbox about it and I thought — this could be fun. Even if I’m here alone, I’m still not feeling lonely. Not at all, actually”.

The event created by Café Folkestedet is a tradition, a way for older ladies to get together and meet new friends. And sure enough, new friendships spurred up after three hours of drinking, chatting, singing and eating in that warm tent. No matter of age.
