My name is Ednecia Matlapeng. I was born in a small town called Rustenburg to a beautiful family of four children. My mother has worked very hard over the years to take great care of us and I am grateful for her efforts. I started coding in grade 10 at Lebone II College and I am proud to say that I will be completing my Honors degree in Computer Science at the University of Cape Town this year. Although we have covered various computing subjects we have never dealt with web development in full depth. A few months ago I decided to take it upon myself to learn web development. I love being able to use my skills to build something that can change the way people see the world and interact with each other. My computer science background is useful when it comes to getting a grasp of a lot of the concepts but I have struggled to find the right resources to become a well-rounded software developer.

There is a lot of information on line to teach web and mobile development but it is very difficult to get a strong overview of how to build web applications that are ready to be released into the real world, until I found a coding school in Seattle called Coding Dojo. They run a 14 week boot camp that teaches people how to build fully functional mobile and web applications. Their program has been tried and tested for 15 years and has proven to be a great success with its Alumni being employed by some of the best tech companies in the world such as Google, Facebook and Amazon. On the 21st of August 2017, they informed me that I was selected to join their program that begins on the 22nd of January 2018. As much as I am honored and thrilled about the amazing opportunity, I am also in need of funding to attend the boot camp.

This is a great stepping stone for me to launch my career as a software developer. I have a dream to start an all women tech company as well as a similar boot camp here in South Africa. This will help students who are also interested in computer science but do not have the opportunity or the funds to pursue it .

The bootcamp costs $13,495 and $7,500 for living expenses. This brings it down to $20,995 (for verification please check the Seattle boot camp: http://www.codingdojo.com/tuition-and-scholarships )

I appreciate any contribution whether it is a small donation or sharing my story with people who you know might be interested in helping me too

The deadline is for all of the fees is: 20 February 2018

The bootcamp start on: 20 February 2018
