THE BEST MORNING ROUTINE

Have you ever woken up in the morning, half asleep reached for the alarm clock and hit the snooze button one, two or even three times, doing everything in your power to grasp those extra 10 minutes of sleep? If this has happened or is currently happening to you, keep reading.

What would you say if I told you that every morning when my alarm clock rings I am happy and filled with excitement with the anticipation of being able to jump out of bed and live my life. I am so happy to be able to look at myself in the mirror and know that I am me and that I have another day to enjoy life and improve myself. Every single person reading this should feel this way, and if you don’t, here’s how I did it in 3 steps.

STEP 1: PRIORITIZE YOUR TASKS

I organize my day, especially my mornings, in a very specific way. I do this to maximize my time and to make sure everything that needs to be done, gets done, on time and effectively. Everyone’s morning routine will be different because we all have different priorities, my routine might not work for you, the trick is to find the things you want to prioritize in the morning and execute on them as fast as possible.

I set time blocks to work on very specific things, starting from highest priority to the lowest. This helps me to stay focused on what needs to get done and prevents me from wasting time and being disorganized.

Accomplishing a lot of tasks consecutively will make you feel good and motivate you to continue to make accomplishments. I set my most important tasks for the morning that way I can get a feeling of accomplishment early on and motivate myself to push on and get as much work done as I possibly can.

STEP 2: GIVE YOUR FULL ATTENTION

I tend to get distracted easily so it’s difficult for me to focus on one singular thing at a time, my mind likes to drift and I start to wander. This went on for a while till I read a quote that completely changed my mentality and stopped this from happening.

Thich Nhat Hanh once said: “Wash the dishes, to wash the dishes.” There are plenty of moments in our lives where we take ourselves out of the present and into the future and this stops us from living in the moment.

We all like getting important tasks done but we shouldn’t turn on auto pilot for everything else. I take every task one at a time, giving them the full attention that they deserve.

I get the highest priority things done first and work my way up to the least important without zoning out and thinking of whats next on the list.

Since the day I heard this quote I made a conscious decision to live every moment of my life in the present because like Thich Nhat Hanh said “each minute, each second of life is a miracle.”

STEP 3: EXECUTE

I think this step is key for the simple fact that the most common excuse I hear from friends, family and everyone else is “I’ll start next week” or some other variation of this. You need to stop procrastinating, waiting for the universe and the stars to line up just for you to start stretching and going to the gym every day.

It’s insane and downright arrogant for anyone to think they are so important and entitled that the Earth has to move in order for them to take action. If you really want to dominate, to reach levels of success that no one has ever even dreamed of you need to DO.

Organizing your mornings to be super effective and tailored specifically for you and your goals is going to set you up for the rest of the day. It will make you more efficient and in time, help you lead a more fulfilling and happier life.

Now that you finished reading this I want you to draft a list of things you want to start doing every morning. Don’t worry about making it perfect, you’ll add and cross out things once you start taking action. The important thing is to DO.
