4th TOUR DE MÁTRA
Are you looking for a challenging and scenic road cycling race in Europe? If so, check out the Tour de Mátra, a cycling competition in the Mátra Mountains, Hungary that is suitable for intermediate and advanced riders who are targeting a hilly or mountainous event.
The Tour de Mátra is a two-day road cycling race scheduled for 1–2 June 2024. This annual event always takes place on the first weekend of June. Ride with us to the highest peak of Hungary: Kékestető 1014m!
The Tour de Mátra is organized by the Mátra Biker Sport Club (MBSC), a local nonprofit sports organization that promotes cycling for all levels and ages. The MBSC is proud to announce that their cycling competition was accredited by the Hungarian Cycling Federation (MKSZ) in early 2022. The accreditation means that it’s internationally recognized and strictly follows the rules and regulations, ensuring fair and safe competition for all participants.
The two-day race takes place on the first weekend in June every year, and it offers two routes for cyclists to choose from. On Saturday, there is a long route of 83 km that covers some of the most iconic climbs and descents of the Mátra Mountains. On Sunday, there is a short route of 16 km. Both routes offer stunning views of the countryside and Hungary’s highest peak, Kékes, which stands at 3,327 feet: 1014 m.
Entry to the race is online only and will close on the last Wednesday before the race starts. The entry fee varies depending on the route. It’s free for U13, U15 and U17! Racers do not need a racing license to compete, but they need to wear a helmet and follow the rules.
The Tour de Mátra is more than just a road cycling race. It is also a celebration of sport, nature, culture, and friendship. It is an opportunity to challenge yourself, enjoy the scenery, learn about Hungary, and meet new people.
