Facelifting the Malaysian Masses
I just saw 4 senior researchers from universities around the world interviewed by Channel NewsAsia, a singaporean news channel, in their daily evening segment. There were many interesting, crucial information and questions posed in the duration, regarding the modern Muslim world such as the Salafi V Sunni V Shiite conflict in the global context.
From that, I’m very curious as to whether/when the Malaysian mass media would step up and address these kind of issues with more maturity and Hikmah, especially as it underlies strongly with the Malaysian youths of today. Bear in mind that the 80s-90s Malaysian babies were born and grown to lead the generations after into an unprecedented mess of perspective in religion and culture.
By clearing up conflicting ideologies on mass mediums, I’m sure extremist mindsets can be combated, of course, within the right circumstances. It needs a knowledgeable and aware society, one that further understands (or wants to) the turning wheels beyond its own cart.
Malaysian news platforms can learn so much from other countries and should not be worried or scared to propose a different take and taste of the going ons in the world lest being politically unpopular. We should know better than to think that a majority of the people are too stupid to comprehend issues such as how sociology and economics plays into the ISIS formula.
The papers may be black and white but dont withheld your content to be such too.
