The Web Design Rabbit Hole
This week was my first real look at web design and yet again, I’ve come away humbled. I didn’t think I was an oblivious person, but having been an internet user for a good long time now, I may have to face the fact that I am. I had thought to myself, “hey, I know good design when I see it, it shouldn’t be so hard to make my stuff look pretty decent.”
I needed to start a new paragraph once I wrote that. I feel that if you have a shockingly stupid thought, you might want to stand back and recognize it. But its true, I had that thought. Don’t get me wrong, I see the hubris. And I was certainly not thinking I’d be able to make things that look anywhere near this good. Obviously, Super Top Secret is next-level. I just thought I could make things look decent.
Suffice it to say, maybe I’ll be able to make my webpages look decent at some point, but I’m no where near there yet. Luckily, there are plenty of resources out there from generous people like this guy who are willing to tell rubes like me how to make their webpages look good. But as with everything worth doing, it isn’t going to be easy or a trivial undertaking. You’d think that lesson would have sunk in by now…
