Kasm is an exciting new technology that provides an alternative to the more main stream virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) such as Citrix Workspaces and VMWare Horizons. Kasm utilizes containerization versus virtualization. This allows Kasm to provide a simple and scalable architecture that can support a few users to hundreds of users at a low cost in both licensing and manpower.

Kasm is completely web-based, meaning users do not have to install any special software. Use any modern browser to navigate to Kasm and enjoy a remote containerized desktop or application streamed to your browser. Kasm provides a natural user experience with features like a seamless clipboard and file uploads/downloads between the remote desktop and local system.

The Kasm administration panel makes it easy to centrally manage nearly every aspect of the system. Kasm supports the following features, all easily configured through the central UI.

  • Web Filter Policies
  • SAML Authentication
  • LDAP Authenttication
  • TOTP Two-Factor Authentication
  • Developer API
  • Persistent Profiles
  • Custom Images
  • Group Policies to configure settings, such as enable/disabling uploads and downloads, allowed images, audio, video settings, and much more
  • Data loss prevention features
  • Dashboard of usage
  • Centralized logging
  • Management of compute cluster (agents)

Kasm is available on-premise, as a SaaS for businesses, and for personal use with the product Kasm Disposables. Kasm Server and SaaS can be configured to meet your business needs while Kasm Disposables is aimed at online security and privacy for individuals.

Kasm Server can be downloaded and installed in a matter of minutes on supported Linux operating systems: Ubuntu, Debian, and CentOS. The documentation covers every aspect of installation and administration of Kasm. Kasm Server Community is free for up to 5 concurrent desktop sessions with nearly all features enabled and community support.
