Cam – so unlike you to play the contrarian! Thanks for taking the time to respond.

There have been, are and will always be great examples of schools, communities & even whole jurisdictions bucking the reality we find ourselves in (even the reverse to my description.. locking down innovation, processes & reducing standards to narrow expectations of teachers, learning & education).

There are also great examples of innovation within schools (a teacher, a department, perhaps the whole school) but I see that happening despite the system rather than because of the support & leadership drawn from it. I know that in your case it’s largely thanks to you & the vast focus on research & change in practice that your school is able to achieve the changes you describe. Sadly, many still find themselves ground down by a system that has requirements to feed itself. It’s why initiatives (even TeachMeet) struggle to find “scale”.

I’m very hopeful that the system will recognise innovations already happening & act to reinvent itself.
