I need an outlet besides Twitter to talk about this election.

Let’s see if Medium is it.

I’ve had a lot of thoughts since Donald Trump sewed up the Republican nomination earlier this week, and my Twitter followers have likely noticed. My feed has ranged from RT’s of vintage classic @RealDonaldTrump tweets like these:

To instant classics like this Hispanigram, which broke the internet temporarily on Cinco De Mayo:

On occasion I’ve even shared non-@RealDonaldTrump content, some of which contains predictions/concerns about the race ahead. One prediction, for example, being that much of the #NeverTrump support is soft, and that even some of the most vocal among them during the primary will come around to support Trump by Election Day:

I also noted that that this race is going to tighten significantly in the months ahead, as David Roberts pointed out at Vox, largely because there are massive structural incentives built into the political ecosystem that encourage a competitive race:

After sharing all this, I thought it might be nice to give some of these thoughts a less ephemeral home than the @matt_hamblin Twitter feed. And thanks to Natieka Samuels’ first post on the platform today (which you should read, by the way!), I figured I’d give Medium a shot.

So that’s how we got here. Now that this intro is out of the way, I can finally get to doing what I want to do: share something that was interesting to me, and offer a brief comment. Expect “aggregation + comment” a la Atrios and not essay-length content. In any case, I hope it can be a window for others into what I’m reading and how I’m thinking about the race, and that an upshot of that might be that the overall level of knowledge about the state of things might be marginally increased among those who stumble upon this page.

Now who’s ready to rumble?
