Sunday Story #12: Internet art

Humans of New York is a blog and bestselling book featuring street portraits and interviews collected on the streets of New York City. This is a form of art where the power of a camera is used to capture a self-portrait,head shot, an item, meaningful place, etc.

“My name is Brandon and I began Humans of New York in the Summer of 2010. I thought it would be really cool to create an exhaustive catalog of New York City’s inhabitants, so I set out to photograph 10,000 New Yorkers and plot their photos on a map.”

With about 16,500,000 likes on it’s Facebook page and armed with a camera Brandon has been able to capture people’s life stories in a single/many photo(s). Various types of diversity, cultures and people of different backgrounds are presented from all sorts of places.(Including foreign countries) The art of “people” or a place is captured in every image;with a story to be told.
