thank you for taking time to respond to my blog. It really is unfair that children have to deal with the situation at hand. As far as my opinion about extra time on assignments, I should have been a bit more clearer on that part. what I was trying to address is a day or two more on homework assignments or giving a bit more time on tests (i.e. 15min extra) if the divorce was fresh-meaning just recently happened. From a personal experience, when my parents had split up, the support from my teachers and school they allowed me have an extra day on a homework assignment and offered resources. I was still held accountable to have the assignment in(by the new due date given) and have it correct but the extra day did help with dealing with the new/negative situation. I hope I answered your question, I appreciate you bringing that to my attention that it was not as clear, I was making suggestions without the idea that some suggestions will work for some but not for others.
