A Business Idea’s Famous Last Words

“I need to think about it”

“I’m going to think about it”

And

“Let me think about it”

Those are the famous last words that end an idea’s life.

The idea is rarely brought up again because it was never actually “thought about”. I hear those famous last words all the time from aspiring entrepreneurs (people with ideas). Why? Why does this happen?

“I’m going to think about it” is an escape. It’s procrastination. It’s putting things off.

It’s an empty promise. You promised the idea that you would visit it again and you never showed up.

“I’m going to think about it some more” is the same as saying “I don’t want to think about this right now”.

It’s the same as saying “I don’t care enough to focus my thoughts on this right now, but maybe later, if I’m in the mood, I’ll consider thinking about it. But not right now.”

Unfortunately, in most cases that time never comes. That thinking “mood” never shows up and the idea is never seen or heard from again.

Entrepreneurship is an attitude and a way of life.

Entrepreneurship is all the time, always on, right now.

Entrepreneurs create success by taking action. In this case the action they take is thinking about their ideas right now. I’m not saying that every time a successful entrepreneur has a new idea they drop everything and focus on that idea right then and there.

What I am saying is that:

Successful entrepreneurs didn’t become successful by thinking about their ideas later!

They chose to try. They chose to follow through.

They chose to think now, not later.
