For as long as I can remember people have been arguing about which is better, Mac or PC. Android or iOS. PS3 or Xbox. Toyota or Honda. We are constantly at a cross roads having to choose sides in this never-ending battle over dominance in a particular area. To help you with your decision you then have marketers bombarding you with reasons to choose one side over the other. Mac’s are cooler and trendier, PC’s are more professional.
The one thing we often forget is that it’s not about any of those things. It’s not about how much RAM you have, or what your processor is, or what the benchmark score is.
What we want are things that work well.
We are all just people. Regardless of demographic, young, old, tech savvy or not we want things that work. We want devices that are intuitive, simple and are able to do the tasks we want them to do quickly and efficiently. Often times we are so clouded by debating over what the specs are that we don’t see the forest for the trees. We forget to ask the most important question. Does it work? Do I like the way it works?
Following that approach I think we can then begin to see the true value in objects. At the end of the day we are all just people that want things that work well. The key to success is simple, you don’t need gimmicks to win us over. You don’t need crazy specs. You don’t need huge marketing campaigns.
All you need are compelling and affordable products that just works. The rest will follow.
