Find out how we used Snapchat & “Geo-Filters” to raise awareness during the Vinnies CEO Sleepout in Adelaide
On a cold winters night, our Head of Digital Matthew Garcia slept out to help raise awareness for homeless within Australia. Even though it was a cold, wet and had a total of 45mins sleep for the whole night, it was thoroughly enjoyed by all involved and a real eye opening. Even though many of us are lucky to be able to sleep in a safe environment every night, thousands of Australians are unable to experience this and sleep in cars, benches, carports and some even worse places.
The team at LogiaMedia with our knowledge and using digital promotion donated a custom made Snapchat filter that those in attendance could use during the night from via our account with Snapchat.
A Snapchat filter or “geofilter” is an excellent way to activate/launch or promote a brand or in this case for the CEO Sleepout event. This was a great success for the night with Matthew sending over 100 Snapchats with over 3,500 views during a 24hour period. Plus with the power of other social media platforms, this was equally crossed promoted by downloading the “Snaps” instantaneous sharing them on Instagram, Twitter & Facebook with #Ceosleepout being one of the most used charity twitter handles for that night in Adelaide.

Snapchat is always a great way to target an audience between the ages of 18–30 with its fastest demographic being 35–45 years old. As “Apps Age Up” meaning the earlier adopters show the fun and engagement that these apps can provide the next age demographic thus picks up on this. We did see this with Facebook because as soon as uni/college students that started to move away from their families they wanted to stay in touch In comes Facebook. Which means you can follow, like & comment any person that you are “friends” with. We are now seeing a similar thing occurring with Snapchat and other related applications including live streaming from Periscope & Facebook live.
