Negroni
Ingredients
1 part gin
1 part Campari
1 part sweet red vermouth
Orange peel for garnish
Notes before you begin:
- The traditional way to make this drink is to stir the ingredients together in the glass. However, the version of this drink from the mind of Stanley Tucci calls for a light shake of the cocktail before straining it into a coupe glass. I recommend you make it both ways and go with what you prefer!
Instructions
- Place a few big ice cubes in a rocks glass. Pour in the gin, Campari, and sweet red vermouth. Stir to combine for about 10 seconds.
- Garnish with some orange peel, gently squeezing it to express the oils over the drink.
Negroni Sbagliato
Ingredients
1 part Prosecco
1 part Campari
1 part sweet red vermouth
Grapefruit peel for garnish
Notes before you begin:
- This drink came about when a bartender accidentally grabbed a sparkling wine instead of gin. The result was a broken (sbagliato) Negroni that replaces the boozy, herbaceous kick of gin for the effervescence of sparkling wine.
- We’ll be using grapefruit peel instead of the traditional orange peel. There are some floral elements in the grapefruit that play really well with the lightness and bubbles of the wine.
Instructions
- Place a few big ice cubes in a rocks glass. Pour in Campari and sweet red vermouth, stirring to combine for about 10 seconds. Pour Prosecco or another sparkling white wine over the top.
- Garnish with a twist of grapefruit peel, gently squeezing it to express the oils over the drink.
Boulevardier
Ingredients
1 part bourbon
1 part Campari
1 part sweet red vermouth
Orange peel for garnish
Notes before you begin:
- Originally made by Harry MacElhone and published in his 1927 book Barflies and Cocktails, the Boulevardier exchanges bourbon for the traditional gin.
Instructions
- Place a few big ice cubes in a rocks glass. Pour in the bourbon, Campari, and sweet red vermouth. Stir to combine for about 10 seconds.
- Garnish with some orange peel, gently squeezing it to express the oils over the drink. Enjoy!
