I’ve used Rails a bit here and there and I’ll be honest, there are some things I like about it and some that I don’t. On that note, I personally wouldn’t trust anyone who agreed with my ideas 100% of the time anyway.

That being said, I like the inspiration in your post here. And I’ll add that in addition to arrogance, you must have had (and still have) that spark that you could build something better.

Every time I hear someone say “don’t reinvent the wheel”, I can only think “yeah, but a lot of our wheels are shitty.” Obviously, you need to be careful about doing full rewrites of your codebase and no one can realistically build all of their tools these days but I applaud you for being ignorant, arrogant and having the confidence that you could do better than PHP and Java frameworks.
