Discipline and Freedom
As I get older I feel as if there are more and more boxes that I put myself in. Whether others feel the same it’s hard to say however, what I do know is that I long to break free and find some freedom. Of course without the box or the ‘fishbowl’ that we put ourselves in the challenge to stay disciplined becomes much harder.
I like this quote from Paolo Coelho which I think describes it well:
‘Discipline and freedom are not mutually exclusive, but mutually dependent because without discipline we would sink into chaos”
So, I think the challenge we have is to retain a childlike sense of freedom with our perspectives and how we view things but to then act with discipline. If we can regain control over our actions while pursuing all that we hope and dream for with vigour I believe the world would be a happier place! The key is to balance the two. But how do we do this?
Try new things. Speak to people. Learn. Grow. Do. Above all, embrace differences. Without them we would all be clones.
