Wow! You are waaaaaay off. First, rape is not a subject to be taken lightly. Second, Black feminism is a school of thought, it was a verbal effort, a coping mechanism, and tool to be utilized by black women who are racially oppressed within the Women’s Movement, and sexually oppressed within the black Liberation Movement, as well as within the patriarchal system of the black community. there hasn’t been a “black feminist” since the 70’s when white lesbians told black women that they didn’t have to marry the man who knocked her up. Now, following them, we are busy with ‘baby-daddy’ drama and child support court. I know, I was there in the 70’s and I heard the speeches. What you don’t realize is that there is a genocide taking place. In 2015, 1,134 black males were killed by cop. There are 21.5 million black men in the US. 48% of the Afro-centric population. Out of that, 34% are ex-offenders and 6% are in jail/prison. 51% have never been married. And let me meantion what is not talked about: our infant mortality rate. It is 2.2 times more that white babies. See where I’m going? Every animal has an instinctual need and drive to procreate and protect there species. When a lion takes over a pride, he kills all the cubs of his predecessor and creates his family gene line. In the animal kingdom, the females will only mate with the strongest male. Again, preservation of the species. We are animals and black women are only doing what is natural: picking out the weak males of our species. That is not black feminism. That is nature. Except the background not being the African savanna, but social media. Like it or not, social media is hear to stay. You can’t use social media to voice your thoughts and then tell someone else to shut up. Not cool. Remember, we are all granted freedom of speech. Whether or not you agree. However, you cannot ridicule, name call, belittle anyone for exercising that right. If a lot of black women are saying the same thing on social media, how blind you are not to recognize solidarity? You said we should tear ourselves down, but that’s what you are doing. Not supporting the common, collective bond. Everyone feeling and reacting the same: you can’t get more together than that. You seem to be the odd woman out. As for me, I must have been under a rock. I didn’t know all this. I was going to boycott the movie because I don’t want to see another slave movie. This director only made this movie because white people love to give Oscars to movie where we are beaten, raped, de-humanized, picking cotton, where they can applaud and say what a wonderful movie that was. What is so wonderful about seeing black people as slaves? This director exploited our history to make white people feel good and get an Oscar. This was a big budget and white folks wanted this movie made. Tell me, do the black man die in the end? I have not once heard this director speak in support of Black Lives Matter. Yet, in the wake of cops killing us today, you want to appease white people by showing us being killed by them in the past? Wake up. Fuck his white wife. The movie is the sell-out.
