Summary

This November has been the most challenging month in Origin’s history. Unfortunately, our new DeFi product, OUSD, was attacked and compromised by hackers that stole just over $7M of funds from the protocol.

At the same time, we believe that crisis breeds character. The challenges that we must overcome now will define Origin as a company and as a community. We are not going to let this $7M setback be in vain and will come out of this situation as a stronger company and community. …

We want to share a rough timeline on when to expect full details regarding the compensation plan for the OUSD hack. Our current estimate is that it will take about 2 weeks to have a plan ready to share. It may take longer, but we hope to get it done faster. In approximately 2 weeks, we expect to be able to share our proposal for when and how affected parties will be reimbursed. The actual reimbursement will then happen at a later time. There are a lot of varying situations that we are trying to understand, so that we can structure a proposal that is fair to everyone. …

October has been an exceptionally eventful month. We have made rapid progress advancing both our Dshop e-commerce platform and our new yield-earning stablecoin, the Origin Dollar (OUSD).

Importantly, we announced that Origin Token (OGN) will serve as the governance token for the OUSD protocol. This gives our token holders the ability to create and vote for proposals as OUSD eventually transitions towards decentralized governance. …

We’re excited to announce that Origin has partnered with Google Cloud to bring our decentralized commerce platform to Google Cloud’s broad global network of developers and customers.

As part of the partnership, Origin has made its Dshop e-commerce platform available on the Google Cloud Marketplace. Merchants can deploy and create their own decentralized e-commerce store in minutes. In addition, publicly available product data from Origin’s merchant partners will now be available in Google BigQuery. …
