I AM the Resurrection and the Life..

I am a mess, but deeply loved by God. That truth was made real with the events we celebrate this weekend. Jesus made this known through the death and resurrection. Wanna know what God is like? Look no further than Jesus. Jesus showed us God, sacrificial love that forgave and loved enemies, showed love and compassion for the needy and those on the fringes. And mercy. Lots of mercy.

I know Christianity has its baggage, as is always the case when humans get involved. I struggle with that baggage, but even when I feel sad about how Jesus is represented by us, I can always look to the real Jesus and see what I loved about Him the whole time. He is who God always was, we just didn’t know it yet.

“He isn’t here, because he’s been raised from the dead, just as he said. Come, see the place where they laid him. Now hurry, go and tell his disciples, ‘He’s been raised from the dead. He’s going on ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there.’ I’ve given the message to you.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:6–7‬ ‭‬‬

I’m thankful for this truth today, and every day really. It’s a crazy thought that a dude was crucified and then raised from the dead. That this man’s death and resurrection began a process of the reconciliation of creation back to God.

Somehow, this Jesus of Nazareth really was God in the flesh. And because of this death and resurrection, I (and all of us) have the chance to participate in the resurrection, the new life that Jesus provided for us.
