If there were ever a more potent and salient example of the privileged class, I couldn’t tell you. Rolling out podiums for highly paid white men to talk about how wrong they were is not only a red flag for the dumpster fire that is meritocracy, it’s a slap in the face of basic intelligence. To think that even on their worst day, there should be an orchestrated celebration of mourning for their missteps defies all logic. On display here is the precise agents by which ethnocentric fascism give rise to an untouchable class of deplorables: even when they lose, they win.
