Silent Star in my Film Class

She taps silently away at her macbook keyboard with her freshly polished nails. Her eyes alternate from the screen to the lecture display as the professor lulls the class to sleep with historical figures and dates. As innocent and mundane as this scene seems, her deep brown eyes conceal only pain and tears left behind from the previous night.

Her fingers silently slip into her brown leather tote. She pulls out her new white iPhone and glances though her 15 new messages, but only checks for one. A ping that has yet to grace her gem studded ears. A message that has been sent but never read. She tries to hold back her tears as she imagines what he is doing instead.

“Hey, what are you doing?”
