Let me start with a statement:

“The moment you don’t have time for something, it’s because it’s not important enough for you.”

Ask yourself: Where do I don’t have time for? And check how important the task itself is for you. Take just 3 minutes.

Maybe you have noticed that “no time” is in fact an excuse for not dealing with the task itself. Or you want to procrastinate the task or you just think it’s not important enough.

I don’t have time for working out”, it’s a classic. You just think it’s not that important, but you want to look good in other people's eyes: so you look busy and you use time as an excuse. This process is something very natural to humans. And we keep doing it.

One thing that can counter this behaviour is Integrity. Integrity is according to Wikipedia:

“The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles, or moral uprightness. It is a personal choice to hold one’s self to consistent standards.[1]”.

A very easy and practical way to put it: “Do what you say and say what you do”. It’s that simple!

If you live up to these standards, life will become more simple and effective.

I inspired my article and findings on this book: “Straight-Line Leadership” (English or Dutch version).
